This Becker mechanism, from Beckers Braunau factory, belongs in a floor standing Vienna Regulator. It is very unusual, both because it runs for a month, and because of the use of "helper" springs to drive the two strike trains. While there is no authoratative dating available, my experience suggests the use of the helper springs on mechanisms (of which I have sold several) was found on later Beckers. John Hubby indicates that this mechanism dates from the second half of 1902. His research has uncovered 7 Becker mechanisms with helper springs, though this is the earliest he has heard of, and the only month duration 3 weight, though he has seen month duration time only clocks. Actually, I can recall selling a month duration time only Becker.
